Tony Romo just got a $119.5 million contract extension in the offseason,Air Max, but still can't stop getting the heat for his shaky big-game record as the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback. His coach,Nike Free, Jason Garrett told ESPN's SportsCenter on Monday that Romo doesn't deserve that level of criticism.
Romo is 55-38 in the regular season with a stellar career 95.6 passer rating. But he is 1-3 as a starter in the playoffs, and 0-3 in other games when a playoff berth was on the line.
"I think teams win 'win or go home’ games," I think teams win playoff games. I think teams win championships,Nike Shox,” Garrett said.
Garrett accepted the fact that the Cowboys .500 record over the past two seasons isn't acceptable, but that Romo's play last season, despite a league-high 19 interceptions,Billiga Air Max, was the reason they were even in the NFC East hunt at 8-8 last season.
"The quarterback has a big role in having a really good football team, a championship football team," Garrett said. Tony's done a great job helping us get into some of those games, helping us get an opportunity to win the division, to go to the playoffs, and sometimes it hasn’t worked out for our football team."
Romo has been one of the league's most efficient quarterbacks throughout his career,Billiga Nike Shox, but because of the Big D spotlight, his inopportune mistakes have gained larger focus then his standout prolific play overall.
The reality is, Romo isn't t the concern in Dallas. He needs much better help from his offensive line,Billiga Nike Free, running game and defense for the Cowboys to make the playoffs this season. They are trying to shake off a four-year drought in 2013.
